Audi S8 is a full-size, luxury sports car of the special Audi S models produced by the German concern Audi AG, Audi Sport GmbH in the city of Neckarsulm.

(D2) First generation[edit]

Audi S8 (D2) was produced from 1996 to 2002. The car featured a 4.2 liter V8 with 340 PS. The D2 S8 could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds. Weight 1730 kg. In 1999, the car was updated with a power increase to 369 PS, which brought the 0-60 acceleration down to 5.4 seconds. Top speed was electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). Weight 1845 kg.[1] Audi S8 (D2) was chosen as the car of the protagonists of the film Ronin.[2]

(D3) Second generation[edit]

Audi S8 (D3) was released from 2006 to 2010. The car was equipped with a modified German engine from the quattro GmbH (from 2016 Audi Sport GmbH) engine V10 from Lamborghini Gallardo (Lamborghini V10) volume of 5.2 liters. The power of 450 PS. The engine power of installed on the Gallardo in 500 PS was reduced by 50 PS with the purpose of increasing its resource. The maximum speed is limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). Acceleration to 60 mph (100 km/h) for 5.1 seconds. The weight was 1940 kg.[3]

(D4) Third generation[edit]

Audi S8 (D4) (2012–2013, facelift 2013–present) 3,993 V8 TFSI (520 PS) acceleration to 60 mph (100 km/h). is 4.2 seconds, the maximum speed is 155 mph (250 km/h).[4] Weight 2050 – 2065 kg.

(D4) facelift[edit]

In 2013, Audi S8 facelift was produced. The acceleration to 60 mph (100 km/h) was improved by 0.1 sec to 4.1 seconds.

In 2016, the S8 plus version was launched with an increased engine power of 605 PS. acceleration to 60 mph (100 km/h) take a 3.8 seconds. the maximum speed of 190 mph (305 km/h).[5][6]

(D5) Fourth generation[edit]

The release of the Audi S8 fourth generation is planned to begin in 2019–2020.[7]
