FirstMark Capital is a private equity firm focusing on venture capital transactions. FirstMark invests in early stage technology companies, frequently as the first institutional investor, and is based in New York City.

Among the firm's areas of focus are:

The founders of FirstMark Capital are Amish Jani, Richard Heitzmann, Lawrence Lenihan, and Gerald Poch. The founders spun out of Pequot Capital Management in 2008 to establish an independent investment firm.[1][2]

Among the firm's most notable current investments are Pinterest,[3] SecondMarket,[4] Knewton, Lot18,[5] Riot Games,[6] Lumosity,[7] and Shopify.[8]

FirstMark, and its predecessor Pequot Ventures, were also investors in Aveksa,[9] Boomi (acquired by DELL,[10] Riot Games (acquired by Tencent Holdings),[11] Netgear (NASDAQNTGR), First Advantage (NASDAQFADV), StubHub (acquired by eBay),[12] Netegrity (acquired by Computer Associates),[13] Flarion (acquired by Qualcomm), OutlookSoft (acquired by SAP AG),[14] Vallent (acquired by IBM) and Navic (acquired by Microsoft).
