Lampara nets are surround nets with the shape of a spoon or dust pan. They have short leadlines and a central bunt (bag or lose netting) to contain the catch. Lampara nets are used for capturing forage fish, that is, small schooling epipelagic fish. They are usually deployed from relatively small, 9 to 18 metre boats, with clear decks and 50 to150 horsepower engines.[1]
