The Clinton–Kalamazoo Canal was begun in 1838, with the plan oc connecting Mount Clemens to the mouth of the Kalamazoo River. However, funding quickly dried up, and all construction stopped in 1843 after only 13 miles had been completed. The remains of the canal extend into both Oakland County and Macomb County. |
