Steve Deontay Logan (born March 20, 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American former professional basketball player. He played with the University of Cincinnati Bearcats. He became a standout point guard in his collegiate career, and was named a first team All-American his senior year along with future NBA players Jay Williams, Juan Dixon, Drew Gooden, and Dan Dickau.

Amateur career [edit]
He attended St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. He starred alongside Sam Clancy Jr., leading St. Edward to the 1998 Ohio High School Athletic Association State "big school" basketball championship during their senior year. Logan won the Gatorade player of the year award in his senior year, and graduated in 1998.
He attended the University of Cincinnati becoming one of the best players in the country in his junior and senior years. In his senior season, he averaged 22.0 points per game, 12th best in the country. He is Cincinnati's second all-time leading scorer with 1,985 points (behind Oscar Robertson) and second in assists with 456. He was named First Team All-America by the Associated Press and First Team All-Conference USA.[1] In July 2009, Cincinnati announced that Logan would be inducted into the UC Athletics Hall of Fame in February 2010.[2]
Pro career [edit]
Despite strong performances in his senior year, Logan slipped to the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft, where he was drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the first pick of the second round (30th overall). It is believed Logan fell to the second round mainly due to concern about his height. Although his listed height was 6'0", Logan was probably closer to 5'10". As a result of being a second-round selection, the Warriors refused to offer him a guaranteed contract, while Logan and his agent argued that he should have been offered a guaranteed contract since he was in fact the 29th player taken in the draft (this was because the Minnesota Timberwolves had to forfeit their first-round pick). After a bitter contract dispute with the Warriors, Logan did not sign a contract. His draft rights were later traded to the Dallas Mavericks. In 2006, he played in Poland (Znicz Jarosław), and the next year in Israel. As of 2012, Logan remains one of the few first team All-American who has never been on an NBA roster and has yet to appear in an NBA game.
Recent activities [edit]
In August 2009, Logan was arrested by deputy U.S. marshals and charged with rape and gross sexual impositions. The charges were dismissed in April, 2010.[3]
In May 2011, Logan was inducted to the Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame along with Wally Szczerbiak and Aaron Williams. In an interview on the same date, Logan states he has not played competitively for two to three years due to a meniscus repair knee surgery. He concedes that he is at his end with playing basketball. He is currently running local basketball camps and is also interested in getting into coaching at either high school or college level.[4]
