During its first season, in 1997, the team was known as the Vermont Wanderers. The Voltage spent the 2009 season on hiatus from the PDL while their home stadium, Collins-Perley Sports Complex, underwent major renovations. Voltage announced their returned to competition on November 11, 2009.[1]
The club also had a sister organization, Vermont Lady Voltage, who played in the USL W-League. Due to the stadium renovations there was no women's team fielded in 2009, but expectations are they will also return in 2010.
